When Socialising Stops Feeling Like a Choice
You don’t really want to go.
But everyone else is going.
So you say yes.
Maybe you’re worried you’ll miss something. Maybe you don’t want people to think you’re avoiding them. Maybe you feel guilty for choosing a quiet evening. Or maybe you’re afraid that if you keep saying no, people will eventually stop asking.
And sometimes, you genuinely want connection.
But other times, you want space and still feel like you need permission to take it.
We live in a time where socialising can feel almost constant. Group chats, stories, plans, parties, dinners, events and the endless awareness of what everyone else is doing can make it difficult to know what you actually want.
The Peer Pressure of Socializing is a psychology-informed workshop about understanding the pressure behind our social choices.
It’s not about becoming more social.
And it’s not about convincing you to stop going out.
It’s about learning to recognise the difference between wanting connection and feeling obligated to connect.
Because sometimes, saying yes isn’t the problem.
Saying yes when you really wanted to say no is.

Why this workshop is different?
Because “Just Ignore Them” Isn’t Always That Simple.
This workshop is…
Not About Being More or Less Social
There is no ideal amount of socialising. The focus is on understanding what works for you.
Beyond “Just Stop Caring What People Think”
We explore why belonging and social approval can matter so much in the first place.
Not Anti-Social Media
Social media is one part of the conversation, particularly around FOMO and comparison but the workshop goes beyond screen time.
Focused on Choice
The goal isn’t to say no to everything. It’s to recognise when your yes is actually a choice.
Psychology-Informed
We’ll explore social belonging, emotional needs, comparison, boundaries, guilt, and behavioural patterns.
Compassionate, Not Prescriptive
You don’t have to become more outgoing, more independent, or less attached to others.
